The Wisconsin DHS and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay recently launched the WisCaregiver Career CDCP Program. The program trains students to become a Certified Direct Care Professional (CDCP). The program, launched earlier this year, is free to join, features an online training format, and can be completed in less than 40 hours. Program graduates are qualified for positions in several CDCP work environments, including:
- Home and community-based services (HCBS)
- One-on-one care (IRIS), and
- Adult family homes (AFH)
There are plenty of benefits that come along with the free certification training, including:
- $500 bonus for course completion and attaining employment with a qualified employer
- Name added to the state’s CDCP professional registry
- Able to connect with CDCP employers across Wisconsin
- Eligibility for a variety of CDCP work settings (HCBS, IRIS, AFH)

After completion, new CDCP’s can continue to use the program’s training portal. They can build their candidate profile, browse job postings, update credentials, and complete trainings.
